Installation
The installation of of Shipsonic is quite simple and straight forward. It can easily be self installed in 45 minutes. You do not need to make any through hull fittings. All installation is done on the inside of your boat hull with Epoxy.
Once the installation is ready, you ultrasonic system is ready to operate off your 12 Volt boat battery or off the 220vAC supply. The operstaion is automatic. You set it ON and forget about it. There is no need for any maintenance.
Transducers should be sited well below the waterline as follows:
Shipsonic 10, single transducer
In a yacht, a position slightly aft of the keel near the centreline of the boat, around the area of the shaft seal.
In a motorboat, a position near the sterngear (above and between the shafts/props). With an outdrive leg, as near the transom as possible (200- 400mm) this will help to protect them even though they are isolated from the hull.
Ultra 20, two transducers – One just behind the keel and above the sterngear, the other, a third of the way back from the bow and near the centerline.
This is the same for motorboats or yachts.
Siting of the transducer is absolutely critical because incorrect siting can make the system less effective.
Make sure that you do not site the transducer on any false floor or internal skin. If your boat is a balsa cored or foam sandwich construction, it is vital that it sits on the actual external skin of the hull.
Remember… you are looking to make 100% face contact with the transducer and the hull, so the better you prepare the surface the better the effect.
